Sure is toasty out there

It was nice and cold in Edinburgh this weekend. It seems strange saying that, but this heatwave has turned our London office into a furnace. When I saw the sky go overcast through the train window shortly after crossing the Scottish border, I was glad.

Mainstream news outlets like The Guardian certainly want us to think the hot weather is a result of global warming. Tony Blair’s spin doctor Alastair Campbell goes one step further:

Having been sent to the cinema to watch Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth when I was a schoolboy as part of the national curriculum, I’m sceptical.

I wasn’t complaining – going to the cinema instead of sitting in class was great. But polar bear populations are increasing, and there’s still ice in the Arctic Ocean – Gore claimed the opposite would be true for both by now.

Gore is not the only expert of course, I’m just illustrating that state-endorsed information can be completely inaccurate. You might even call it propaganda, built to pursue an agenda. An Earth threatening calamity that must be avoided would certainly give the deep state room to do whatever it wants, with as much money as it wants…

But I shouldn’t entertain such thoughts. After all, if Campbell is any use as a political barometer they may well get me thrown in jail in the near future.

Until next time,
